The short answer

The Dream Belt suits you if you want side support that stays on your body when you get up and shift, and your hip size sits clearly in one of its two sizes. A wedge suits you if you hate anything around your waist or sit between sizes.

  • Belt: worn, foam pads at your sides, Velcro at the back.
  • Wedge: sits on the bed, nothing to fasten.
  • Both: still need a knee and head pillow.

What is the Babymoov Dream Belt?

It is a stretchy band you wear around your hips and under your bump while you sleep, with memory foam panels on each side. Babymoov says the foam fills the gap between your hip and the mattress when you lie on your side.

It is a sleep aid, not a daytime support belt for walking or work. And it is not a pillow: it covers your middle and nothing else.

When does wearing your support beat a wedge on the bed?

When you get up a lot. A belt goes with you to the bathroom and is still in place when you lie back down. A wedge stays where you left it, and you have to find it and set it up again.

3:20 a.m.

Kara was 25 weeks, and her partner worked nights, so she had the bed to herself and too many pillows in it. Bump pillow, back pillow, knee pillow. Every bathroom trip meant climbing out of the pile, and every return meant rebuilding it in the dark. By the third trip she just lay on the bare mattress and gave up.

"Then you have to try to escape the legion of pillows and quilts you've assembled around yourself every time you have to wake up to pee."YouTube comment on a pregnancy sleep video (not about Babymoov)

That is the job a wearable is built for. Fewer loose pieces to lose. But it only fills the gap at your waist and sides. If your trouble is your back or your knees, a belt does not reach them.

A belt saves you rebuilding. It does not save you every pillow.

How do you check the Dream Belt size before ordering?

Measure around your hips just below your bump, then compare with the chart on the exact page you buy from. Because the size labels change between pages, match the measurement, not the letters.

  1. Measure around your hips, just under your belly, with a soft tape, standing.
  2. Write it down in both inches and centimetres. EU and UK charts often use cm.
  3. Find the chart or manual linked on the product page. We did not find measurements printed on the pages we read.
  4. Between sizes? Think about where you will be in 8 to 10 weeks, not today.
  5. Check the return line on that page. If it says final sale, a wrong size is your cost.

One UK buyer on Babymoov's own page warned that the sizing did not match what she expected and said to measure first. That is one review, but it is the same problem the mixed labels suggest.

Will you be able to fasten it and wash it?

The Velcro is at your back, so you fasten it behind you, by feel. Washing means taking the foam panels out first. Both are fine on a good day and harder late in pregnancy.

  • Reach: can you press two strips together behind your lower back while lying or sitting? Try the motion now.
  • Skin: Velcro edges can rub. Wearing it over a sleep shirt, which Babymoov allows, puts fabric between you and the strip.
  • Washing: pads out, band in at 30°C (86°F). Have a night plan while it dries.
  • A wedge instead: nothing to fasten. Its cover comes off for washing on many models; the foam usually does not go in the machine.

Dream Belt or wedge: which should you buy?

Choose the belt if you get up often, sleep alone or travel, and your measurement lands clearly in one size. Choose a wedge if you do not want anything on your body, or you need support at your back as well as your bump.

  • I get up two or more times a night: belt.
  • I hate tight things at my waist: wedge.
  • My hips sit between the two sizes: wedge, or ask the seller first.
  • My back aches as much as my bump pulls: wedge, or two.
  • I want to pack it for a trip: belt.

Whichever you pick, keep a pillow between your knees and your own head pillow. For a wider look at local support against long pillows, see pregnancy wedge vs. body pillow.

Kara ended up with less in her bed, not more: something for her bump and back that stayed put, one pillow between her knees. On her partner's next night off he came home at seven, and she was still asleep, curled on her side, nothing on the floor.

Frequently asked questions

What size Babymoov Dream Belt should I get?

Babymoov's US page says to measure around your hips just below your belly. The size labels differ between its pages, so match your measurement to the chart where you buy, not the letters.

Can you wash the Babymoov Dream Belt?

Yes. Babymoov says to take out the memory foam pads first, then machine wash the band at 30°C (86°F). Follow the label on the one you receive.

Do you still need a pregnancy pillow with the Dream Belt?

Usually you still need something between your knees and your own head pillow. The belt fills the gap at your waist and sides; it does not reach your knees or head.

Is the Dream Belt better than a wedge for travel?

It is easier to pack and nothing gets lost in a hotel bed. A wedge is bulkier but needs no fitting. Size and comfort around the waist decide it.

Can you return the Babymoov Dream Belt?

On Oct 8, 2026 the US page said both "30 days to decide" and "final sale", and the UK page said 14 days. Ask the seller in writing before you order.

The Relvay 3-Piece is the bed-side option: two crescent wedges for bump and back, joined by a flat strap under you, with a small oval cushion on the strap.
