Relvay makes a pregnancy pillow. We also tell you below when you should not buy one.

The short answer

Identify the exact pillow first, then ask the maker or seller with proof. Photograph the sewn-in label, find the SKU or item number in your order, check the maker's own site, and send one short request with those details.

  • Collect: label photo, SKU, order number.
  • Search: the exact model name, not "pregnancy pillow".
  • Do not guess: zips, valves or washing.

What do you need before asking for instructions?

Three things: a clear photo of the label, the SKU or item number, and your order details. With those, a seller can match your exact pillow in minutes.

  1. Photograph the sewn-in label, both sides, in daylight. Brand, model, fabric and care symbols are usually there.
  2. Find the SKU or item number. Look on the label, the shipping bag sticker, your order confirmation email or the listing page. On Amazon, the listing's product details show an ASIN.
  3. Take two more photos: the whole pillow laid flat from above, and any part that moves, opens or detaches, like a strap, zip, valve or clip.
  4. Write down where you bought it, the date, and the order number.

Week 25, 9:15 p.m.

Lindsey's pillow arrived vacuum-packed in a plain plastic bag. No card, no booklet, just a printed address label. It puffed up into two pieces and a strap she could not make sense of. Every video she found showed a different pillow.

"I had the order email the whole time," she said. "The item number was right there. I just never thought to send it."

Where should you look before contacting anyone?

On the maker's own site, searched by exact model name. Many brands keep setup on the web instead of in the box.

  • The maker's how-to pages. bbhugme, for example, publishes a pregnancy pillow how-to page and a video hub.
  • The product page and care page. Boppy, for example, has no downloadable manual we could find, but spreads setup across a how-to guide, each product page and a Product Care page.
  • The listing you bought from. Photos and the question section sometimes show the setup.
  • Your packaging. Check the bag and box before they go out. Cards get thrown away with them.

What should your instructions request say?

Keep it to one short message with the identifiers at the top. Copy this and fill in the brackets:

Subject: Setup instructions for [model name], order [number]

Hi, my pregnancy pillow arrived without instructions. Details:

Product: [model name and colour]
SKU or item number: [number]
Order number and date: [number, date]
Bought from: [store or marketplace]

I have attached photos of the label, the whole pillow and the [strap, zip, valve or other part].

Could you send the setup instructions or a link for this exact model? I would also like to confirm: which end goes where for side sleeping, how any adjustable part is meant to be used, and the washing instructions for the cover and the inner pillow.

Thank you, [name]

Send it to the brand first if you know it. If the listing has no brand, send it to the seller through the store or marketplace message system, so the request is on record with your order.

What should you not guess while you wait?

Do not guess anything that opens, inflates or goes in a machine. Those are the parts that can be damaged or leak filling.

  1. Inner zips. Some makers say an inner zip must stay closed. bbhugme, for example, says never to open the double zipper on its inner pillow.
  2. Valves and pumps on inflatable pillows. Wait for the maker's inflation instructions.
  3. Washing the filled part. Care varies a lot: some inner pillows are spot clean only, others need specific machines. Until you know, wash only a removable cover, and only if its label says so.
  4. Detachable straps or clips. Leave them as they arrived rather than cutting or retying.

In the meantime, you can still sleep comfortably. The NHS suggests going to sleep on your side, with pillows supporting your bump and a pillow between your knees. Regular pillows can do that for a few nights.

Ongoing hip, pelvic or back pain is something to raise with your midwife or OB-GYN. Setup advice is for comfort.

What if nobody answers?

Give it a few business days, then follow up once on the same thread and check your return window. A pillow you cannot set up or wash safely is a fair reason to ask for a return.

Write down the date your return window ends the day you send the first message. If it is close, say so in the follow-up. If the seller will not give instructions or a return, your marketplace's own help pages explain the next step for an unresolved order.

Frequently asked questions

What do I do if my pregnancy pillow came with no instructions?

Photograph the label, find the SKU or item number in your order, search the maker's site for that exact model, then message the brand or seller with those details and photos.

Where is the SKU on a pregnancy pillow?

Usually on the sewn-in label, the shipping bag sticker, the order confirmation email or the listing page. Marketplace listings often show their own item number, such as an ASIN on Amazon.

Can I use instructions from a similar-looking pillow?

For basic side-sleeping placement, a similar shape is a reasonable start. For zips, valves, adjustable parts and washing, wait for your model's own instructions.

Can I wash a pregnancy pillow without the care label?

Wash only a removable cover, gently, until you know more. Some inner pillows are spot clean only, so do not machine wash the filled part without the maker's care instructions.

If you are still deciding which pillow to keep

If the pillow you have will not stay set up and the return window is open, this is a fair moment to compare. Our 3-Piece is two wedges and a strap, and its setup fits in one sentence: one wedge under the bump, one behind the back, strap under you.
