Relvay makes a pregnancy pillow. We also tell you below when you should not buy one.

The short answer

The bbhugme can be worth its premium if you will really use the adjustable firmness, reshape it often and keep it for nursing. If you only need bump and back support, you are paying for features you may never touch.

  • Verify: the exact bundle, seller and return terms.
  • Expect: a long pillow, spot-clean insert, fiddly cover.
  • Worth it: when you use firmness and shape often.

What exactly do you get with a bbhugme pregnancy pillow?

You get one long bead-filled pillow in a stretchy jersey cover, with two sliding stoppers called Pebbles that change its length and firmness. Bundles, colors and extras vary by seller.

Because the fill is described two ways, read the label and listing for the exact version you are buying, not just the brand name.

Which bbhugme features will you actually use?

The firmness Pebbles and the reshaping are what you are paying for. If you will set it once as a U and never touch it again, most of the premium is idle.

Isla was 22 weeks and had already sent back two pillows. One was too soft, one ate the bed. Now she had a $200 pillow in her cart and Theo asking, carefully, whether this would be the last one. She did not know. Nobody had told her what she would actually use.

What does a bbhugme cost to live with?

More effort than the price suggests. Only the cover goes in the washing machine, and both major reviews say putting it back on is hard.

CoverMachine wash at 40°C and hang to dry, per Expert Reviews. Mattress Clarity says it is hard to put on alone, especially later in pregnancy.

InsertNot machine washable. Spot clean with a damp cloth, or a careful rinse without soaking, then air dry.

PebblesHand wash or dishwasher. Expert Reviews says you may feel them at night if they touch your skin.

It is also a long pillow. At about 59 inches, a U shape takes real room in a shared bed, and Mother & Baby's reviewer listed bulk as a con. Mattress Clarity adds that it is not a good head pillow, so keep your own.

A premium pillow is only good value if you use the parts that make it premium.

What should you verify before you pay?

Verify five things in writing: the seller, the bundle, the return window, the warranty and whether it fits your bed. Reviews disagree on some of these, so do not assume.

  • Seller: are you buying from the brand or an authorized US retailer? Prices and terms change by store.
  • Bundle: how many covers? Are Pebbles and the bag included?
  • Returns: Expert Reviews describes a 30-day trial on brand website orders. Retailers may differ. Ask whether a used pillow can come back.
  • Warranty: Expert Reviews mentions one year for certain issues; Mattress Clarity says no warranty. Get the current answer in writing.
  • Bed: lay a 59-inch tape on your side of the bed in a U. Is there room for your partner?
  • Care: can you live with a spot-clean insert for months?

Is the bbhugme worth the money?

For someone who will adjust it, reshape it and keep using it after birth, reviewers broadly say yes. For someone who only needs her bump and back held at night, the premium buys features she will not use.

Isla wrote down what she did every night: she slept on her side and she needed her bump and back held. That was it. She kept her own head pillow and a regular pillow between her knees, and bought something small for the middle. Theo got his half of the bed back, and on Saturday he woke up with her curled against his chest, laughing that they had finally stopped buying pillows.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the bbhugme pregnancy pillow so expensive?

You pay for the adjustable firmness system, a pillow that reshapes into several positions, a jersey cover and use after birth for nursing. Reviewers rate the comfort highly but call the price its main drawback.

Can you machine wash a bbhugme pillow?

Only the cover. Expert Reviews says to wash it at 40°C and hang it dry. The inner pillow is spot clean only, and the Pebbles can be hand washed or put in the dishwasher.

What are the Pebbles on a bbhugme?

Two sliding stoppers, one at each end. Sliding them changes how tightly the beads are packed, which changes the length and firmness.

Is the bbhugme good for a small bed?

It is about 59 inches long, so a U shape takes a lot of room. In a full or a shared queen, check the space with a tape measure first.

Can you use a bbhugme after pregnancy?

Yes. Reviewers used it as a nursing support and back rest after birth. If you already own a feeding pillow, that use is worth less to you.

If you only need the bump and back covered

Relvay does not make a bbhugme or anything like it: no firmness Pebbles, no long body pillow, no nursing mode. The Relvay 3-Piece is a much simpler set at $79.99 for people like Isla whose real job is holding the bump and lower back at night.

Relvay 3-Piece pregnancy pillow: two pink ribbed wedges joined by a flat strap, with a small oval cushion

Two wedges for bump and back, joined by a flat strap, about as wide as your torso. Keep a regular pillow between your knees. $79.99, 90-day returns.
