Relvay makes a pregnancy pillow. We also tell you below when you should not buy one.

The short answer

Both are long, bead-filled pillows sold for pregnancy and feeding, so compare the exact model, not the brand. The doomoo Comfy Big is listed at 190 cm with a certified organic cotton cover. The Big Flopsy is listed around 170 cm.

  • Longer body: Comfy Big, about 75 in.
  • Shorter body: Big Flopsy, about 67 in.
  • Still unknown: exact width, bead weight, US returns.

Which doomoo are you actually comparing?

Start with the model name, because doomoo sells more than one pregnancy pillow. The Comfy Big and the Buddy look similar in photos, but doomoo's own cover page says the models differ in size and features, and its refill page lists different models.

My sister in Lyon said, "Just get the doomoo, everyone has one." I was 24 weeks, on the couch, and found three doomoo pillows in grey that all looked like the same long bean. Then a friend sent a link to a Big Flopsy, which also looked like the same long bean.

I had four tabs and no way to tell which one my sister meant. I texted her a photo. She replied with a shrug emoji.

Same shape in a photo does not mean the same pillow. The model name decides the size, the cover and the refill.

In this checklist, "doomoo" means the Comfy Big, the brand's long wrap-around pregnancy pillow. "Big Flopsy" means the Béaba pillow often listed under the Red Castle name.

Doomoo Comfy Big vs Big Flopsy: what the listings say

On paper they are close: long, curved, bead filled, cotton covered. The clearest differences are length and how fully each listing documents the covers and care.

Illustration comparing two long curved bead-filled pillows side by side, one longer than the other, with a length bar under each
About 75 in vs about 67 in. Length is the clearest documented difference.

The useful difference is not the brand. It is 20 centimeters of length and how much each seller is willing to put in writing.

Can you adjust either pillow?

Both are bead filled, so both can be pushed and shaped to some degree. Only the Big Flopsy has a matching refill sold by its maker for topping up the beads.

doomoo says the microbeads let the Comfy Big adapt to your position. We did not find a doomoo statement that you can open it and remove beads to make it softer or thinner. For the Big Flopsy, a French retailer blog says the beads let you shape it to your body, and Béaba's refill page says the refill can restore a used pillow.

If you want a pillow you can make firmer over time, ask the seller directly whether the inner pillow opens, and which refill fits that exact model. For how bead fillings feel and sound compared with fiber or foam, see pregnancy pillow fillings compared.

Which one fits your bed and body better?

Taller people and those who like the pillow to wrap from head to knees may prefer the longer Comfy Big. In a smaller bed, the shorter Big Flopsy takes a little less room. Neither listing gives a reliable width.

  • Lay a tape measure on your bed at 67 in and 75 in. Which one reaches where you want support?
  • Check how much of the width your partner can give up. A long curve laid in a C takes a wide footprint.
  • Decide if you want it around your head or only from the shoulders down.
  • Ask for the width and thickness in writing for the exact model.

Long pillows like these are also used as C or U shapes around the body. Our guide to C-shaped vs U-shaped pregnancy pillows covers which layout suits which sleeper.

What should you ask before buying either one?

Ask for the four things neither listing settled for us: exact size, bead weight, inner pillow care and the return terms where you live.

  1. Exact model: "Is this the Comfy Big or the Buddy?" or "Is this the Big Flopsy 10L?"
  2. Size: "What are the length, width and thickness in inches?"
  3. Filling: "How much do the beads weigh, and can I open the inner pillow?"
  4. Care: "Can the inner pillow be washed, and how?"
  5. Returns: "How many days do I have, and who pays to ship it back?"

Both brands sell mainly in Europe. If you are in the US, shipping time and returns can decide this more than the pillow does. Our pregnancy pillow buying checklist lists the return terms worth reading.

Olivia sent those five questions to two stores. One answered all five. One answered the price. She stopped comparing beans and started comparing answers, and the choice took ten minutes after weeks of tabs.

Frequently asked questions

Is the doomoo Comfy Big bigger than the Big Flopsy?

It is longer. doomoo lists the Comfy Big at 190 cm, about 75 inches. Retailers list the Big Flopsy at about 170 cm, about 67 inches. Neither width was clearly documented in what we read.

What is inside doomoo and Big Flopsy pillows?

Both use polystyrene microbeads. doomoo lists 100% EPS beads in the Comfy Big. Béaba describes polystyrene micro-beads for the Big Flopsy.

Can you wash doomoo and Big Flopsy pregnancy pillows?

The outer covers come off and machine wash. doomoo says the Comfy Big inner pillow can be hand washed occasionally and air dried. We did not find written inner pillow care for the Big Flopsy.

Can you buy refill beads for them?

Béaba sells a refill for the Big Flopsy 10L. doomoo's refill page lists other doomoo models and does not include the Comfy Big, so check the exact model before buying beads.

Is Red Castle Big Flopsy the same as Béaba Big Flopsy?

Store listings use both names for the same Big Flopsy pillow, with Béaba shown as the brand. Check the model name and size on the listing you buy from.

If neither long pillow suits your bed

Relvay does not make a long bead pillow, so we are not a like-for-like alternative to either one. What we make is a compact 3-Piece set: two small wedges for the bump and the back, joined by a strap. It is the option we would point to if a 67 to 75 inch pillow is more than your bed can give.

Relvay 3-Piece pregnancy pillow: two pink ribbed wedges joined by a flat strap, with a small oval cushion

Two wedges for bump and back, joined by a flat strap, about as wide as your torso. Keep a regular pillow between your knees. $79.99, 90-day returns.

Probably not for you if

  • You want a pillow you can mould with beads.
  • You want one long pillow to wrap your head, body and knees.
  • You also want a pillow for feeding later. Ours is not one.

Made for you if

  • Your bed or partner cannot spare room for a long C.
  • You only need the bump and lower back supported.
  • You want US shipping and 90 days from delivery to decide.
