Relvay makes a pregnancy pillow. We also tell you below when you should not buy one.

The short answer

The Frida Mom Adjustable Keep-Cool is a reasonable pick if you are under about 5'5", run warm and want one bendable pillow. Its cooling claim has light support, not proof, and its length is the real limit.

  • Backed: bead fill, washable cover, bendable shapes.
  • Thin evidence: how cool it stays in real summer heat.
  • Watch: 52 to 54 inches long, about 9 inches thick.

Who is the Keep-Cool pillow really for?

It is for a warm, shorter sleeper who wants a single pillow she can bend into different shapes. If you are tall or need thick support between your knees, read the fit section before the cooling one.

Jenna was 31 weeks in July, with the fan on high and the sheet kicked to the floor. Her old pregnancy pillow was soft and lovely in March. By summer she was peeling it off her stomach every hour, damp where it touched her. Diego slept through it. She sat on the edge of the bed scrolling cooling pillows, and every listing said the same thing: keeps you cool all night.

"the fabric is not breathable. It kept me too toasty while super pregnant in the summer."Amazon review of a different pregnancy pillow

"pls design some better cooling material pillow case for summer use. This one still hot in summer."Amazon review of a different pregnancy pillow

Those reviews are not about the Frida. They are why a word like "keep-cool" is so tempting, and why it deserves a closer look.

Frida Keep-Cool claims vs. the evidence

Most of the listing checks out on paper. The cooling claim rests on one tester, mostly in cold weather, and the sources do not agree on the cover fabric or weight.

Will the Frida Keep-Cool fit your body?

It fits best if you are about 5'5" or shorter and want light support. At around 54 inches long and 9 inches thick, it is a slim pillow.

HeightMattress Clarity says people taller than 5'5" may not be able to wrap it fully around their body, which limits the U shape.

ThicknessThe tester wished it were thicker to keep her hips level. In the I shape it gives some knee cushion, but less than a thicker pillow.

Stomach sleepingIt is too short to curve into a large O.

A bendable pillow can only make shapes as big as its length allows.

Bead fill also feels and moves differently from fiber fill. If you have never slept on beads, our filling comparison explains what to expect.

Will it actually keep you cool?

Maybe cooler than a thick fiber pillow, but no listing can promise you a cool night. How much pillow touches you, your sheets and your room matter as much as the fill.

A slim tube touches less of your body than a big U, which helps. Bead fill lets more air move than packed fiber, which may help. But the cover sits against your skin, and the sources do not even agree on what that cover is made of. If heat is your main problem, check the label when it arrives and keep the packaging until you have slept on it on a warm night.

  • Read the cover tag the day it arrives.
  • Try it on the warmest night you can, not a cool one.
  • Notice where you sweat: under the bump, at the back, or everywhere.
  • Check the return window and condition rules for your store.

Feeling very hot, or sleep that keeps getting worse, is worth mentioning to your midwife or OB-GYN. A pillow is a comfort aid, not a treatment.

Is the Frida Mom Keep-Cool pillow worth it?

Yes, for a shorter, warm sleeper who wants one light pillow she can reshape. No, if you are tall, want thick knee support, or are buying mainly for a guaranteed cool night.

Jenna's fix in the end was less pillow, not a magic fabric. She stopped wrapping herself and supported only her bump and back, with a regular pillow in a thin cotton case between her knees. On Saturday she woke up with the fan still on, the sheet still on the floor, and for once she was not damp. Diego brought her iced coffee in bed.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Frida Mom Keep-Cool pillow really keep you cool?

One pregnant tester at Mattress Clarity said it did not overheat, but her pregnancy was mostly in colder weather. The bead fill may breathe better than packed fiber. No source we found measured temperature.

How long is the Frida Mom Adjustable Keep-Cool pillow?

About 52 to 54 inches long and 9 to 10 inches wide, depending on the source. That is short for a body pillow, so taller people may not be able to wrap it into a full U.

Can you wash the Frida Mom Keep-Cool pillow?

The removable cover is machine washable. Mattress Clarity says the inner bead pillow is spot clean only, so protect it from spills.

What is the Frida Keep-Cool cover made of?

Sources disagree. One retailer lists 46% nylon, 46% polyester and 7% spandex. Mattress Clarity describes a Tencel outer cover. Check the label on the one you receive.

Is the Frida Mom Keep-Cool good between the knees?

In its straight I shape it gives some knee cushion. At about 9 inches thick, the tester wished it were thicker to keep her hips level, so a separate knee pillow may still help.

If heat and bed space are your real problems

To be clear: the Relvay 3-Piece is not a cooling pillow and makes no cooling claim, and it is not a bendable tube like the Frida. If you want one long pillow to reshape, buy that. The 3-Piece is for people like Jenna who decided to support only the bump and back, so less pillow touches them.

Relvay 3-Piece pregnancy pillow: two pink ribbed wedges joined by a flat strap, with a small oval cushion

Two wedges for bump and back, joined by a flat strap, about as wide as your torso. Keep a regular pillow between your knees. $79.99, 90-day returns.

  • You need head and knee support in the same piece.

Worth a look if

  • You only need your bump and lower back held.
  • You want 90 days to try it at home.
