Relvay makes a pregnancy pillow. We also tell you below when you should not buy one.

The short answer

Choose the Snoogle Original if you want one long pillow that reaches from your upper body to your knees and you have the bed space. Choose the Mini if you want targeted support in a smaller bed and will keep your own head pillow.

  • Original: about 58.75 x 25.5 in, contoured head to toe.
  • Mini: about 32 x 22.5 in, back, bump or legs.
  • Decider: knees and bed width.

What is the difference between the Snoogle Original and the Mini?

The Original is a full-length pillow that follows your body from top to toe. The Mini is a shorter contoured pillow, roughly half the length, meant for the areas you need most.

Which one fits the way you sleep?

If you need your knees held every night, the Original is the one built for it. If your problem is one spot, like your back or your bump, the Mini covers it with far less bed.

12:30 a.m.

Imani was 30 weeks and sharing a queen with Caleb, who is not small. Her sister had handed down a full-length Snoogle, and it worked: bump held, knees held, she slept. But Caleb was on the last strip of mattress, and one night she heard him mutter that he was going to buy a bigger bed or a couch, whichever came first. She started wondering if the little one would do.

"This is great if you have the whole bed to yourself. My partner complains I take up too much of the bed rolling over."YouTube comment on a pregnancy pillow video

  • My hips ache unless something sits between my knees: Original.
  • I mostly need something behind my back: Mini.
  • I share a full or queen bed: Mini.
  • I want one pillow and no extras: Original.
  • I travel or nap on the couch: Mini.
  • I like my own head pillow: Mini, or the Original with the top curve below your pillow.

Can you keep your own head pillow with each Snoogle?

With the Mini, yes, and you will need it. With the Original, you can, but the top curve and your pillow share the same space near your head.

Leachco describes the family as following your body "from head to toe", and Sleepopolis calls the Original a neck, back, hip and tummy pillow in one. That is handy if the curve sits at the right height for you. If it does not, you end up adding a head pillow on top, or sliding the whole thing down, which changes where the knee end lands.

"the neck is too high always waking up with neck pain"Amazon review of a different pregnancy pillow

That review is not about a Snoogle, but it is the risk with any pillow that reaches your head: your height decides whether it fits. Our head section troubleshooting guide covers what to try.

The longer the pillow, the more of your body has to match its shape.

Are the Snoogle Original and Mini easy to wash?

Both have a zippered, removable cover you can machine wash, and both inner pillows are spot clean only. The Original's long insert is the harder one to keep fresh.

Leachco says to spot clean either pillow with a soapy cloth and not to machine wash it. Wash the cover warm on a gentle cycle; the Mini's cover can go in the dryer on low. If you sweat at night or expect spills, a spare cover matters more than which size you pick.

Pain that keeps you awake is worth raising with your midwife, OB-GYN or a pelvic health physical therapist. A pillow is a comfort aid, not a treatment.

Snoogle Original or Mini: which should you buy?

Buy the Original if you want one pillow for bump or back plus knees, and your bed can give it about 25 inches. Buy the Mini if you need one area held, share a smaller bed, and are happy adding your own pillows. Both were sold out on leachco.com when we checked, so compare stock and price at other stores.

Imani gave the full-length one back to her sister. She kept her own head pillow, put a regular pillow between her knees, and used a small setup for her bump and back. The next Sunday Caleb woke up on his own side, in the middle of it, and rolled over to rest his hand on her bump before either of them said a word.

If you chose the Mini for bed space

Relvay does not make a Snoogle of any size. If the full-length Snoogle works in your bed, keep it. The Relvay 3-Piece is for people like Imani who want bump and back held at the same time without a full-length pillow, and are fine adding a regular pillow between their knees.
